Ian holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University. He started Ambler Design in 2002 with a desire to design and build unique outdoor spaces. When not working, he can be found toiling in his own yard, skiing in the winter or swimming and sailing in the summer.

Bookkeeper. Garden Designer.

Stacey is a Master Gardener, former Waldorf School teacher, and environmental educator, She has training in environmental resource management, fine arts, and permaculture. Her experience and love of plants bring artistic form and social function to our design work. In her spare time she can be found paddling on a lake or nordic skiing across the hills of VT.

Site Supervisor. Construction Manager.

Albert joined the Ambler Design team in 2009. He has over 30 years of landscape construction experience and is the key link between the design and construction in the field. Versatile in all aspects of the construction process, Albert can be seen on any given day orchestrating the transformation of what may seem like a chaotic project site into a beautiful crafted landscape. Albert lives with his family in Wolcott.

Construction Foreman. Senior Mason.

Nick joined Ambler Design in 2012 and has over 25 years experience. His dedication to each project is apparent, frequently putting in extra time and effort to finish his work for the day. Nicks patience, hard working ethic always ensures a job done well and in good time. He is a major asset to our team. Nick lives in Craftsbury with his girlfriend.

Truck Driver. Job Site Coordinator.

Luke joined Ambler Design in 2014. Luke drives our dump truck and is an essential link to keeping various projects running smoothly. He does a great job making sure all the crews have what they need when they need it. If we had an award for attendance, Luke would probably win every year. Luke lives with his girlfriend and 3 cats in Morrisville.

Mechanic. Machine Operator.

Phil has been a member of Ambler Design since 2015. He brings 40+ years of experience in site supervision, heavy equipment operation and machine maintenance. Phil’s ability to fix or troubleshoot just about anything from a compactor to an excavator keeps our construction team running efficiently. Phil lives in Elmore with his wife and on weekends can be found restoring antique tractors or helping a neighbor with a construction project.

Colby joined Ambler Design in 2015 and has become an essential part of the team as his skill set has grown to include stone work and machine operation. Colby’s easy going, friendly attitude makes him a great guy to have on any crew. He works well with everyone and can fulfill any number of roles. Colby lives with his daughter in a really cool converted shipping container house in Morrisville.

Lead Gardener. Grower.

Erin joined us in 2018 as our Lead Gardener and Grower. Her knowledge of horticulture is expansive and her love for plants shines through in her work. Erin is instrumental in planting design and installation for all of our projects. She is also in charge of maintaining our wholesale nursery operations. Erin lives with her family in Duxbury.

Machine Operator. Construction Manager.

Caleb joined Ambler Design in 2012. Caleb has a diverse skillset with interests in carpentry, maple sugaring, tree work and machine operation. He communicates well with others, has great attention to detail and is a great asset to the smooth operation of our landscape projects. When not working, Caleb can be found mountain biking, hunting or skiing. Admirably, he is also building his own house in all his spare time. Caleb lives with his wife and 3 kids in Elmore.

Landscape Installer. Mason.

Josiah joined Ambler Design in 2022. He is a graduate of University of Vermont’s Landscape Horticulture program and has been a great addition to our team. He has a work ethic and interest in Landscape Architecture that is uncommon. Josiah works as hard as anyone, gets along with everyone and is always ready to do whats asked of him. If we could only find more young people like Josiah! When not working, Josiah can be found tinkering in a garage, swimming in a lake or snowboarding with friends. He lives with his girlfriend in Montpelier.
